Biography
Jérôme Rasto is a French painter and street artist, born in Perpignan in 1978 and taught to paint by his father, an artist himself. As a child he came across the Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry, and medieval illumination has shaped his work ever since: its symbols and ornament, and from stained glass the heavy outlines, the transparencies and the colours. After a short spell at the school of decorative arts in Limoges he painted in the studio before taking that neo-medieval world into the street, on walls and on discarded furniture, crossing it with contemporary culture and the video games he grew up with. His solo shows include "Du Déluge à Babel" at the Cabinet d'Amateur in Paris (2022) and "Judgment Day" at Athenessa Gallery in Los Angeles, and he illustrated an edition of Tristan and Iseult.
