Biography
Illustrator, animator, and independent artist Dominik Rüegg, also known as Drü Egg, was born in St. Gallen in 1987.
In the 2000s, after cultivating a passion for plants and obtaining a qualification in landscape gardening, he was admitted to the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, where he studied 2D animation techniques.
He has lived and worked in his hometown since 2013. Drü Egg draws inspiration from his social and natural surroundings, his travels, and everyday life.
Combining forms that evoke landscapes, figures, and graphic elements such as pictograms, his illustrations and murals are often created spontaneously, in situ, and without any preliminary sketches.
Concise and minimalist, his pictorial style is influenced by street culture, pop art, and Cubism. A hypnotic network of figurative and abstract forms, his compositions are reminiscent of certain works by Fernand Léger, Keith Haring, Jean Dubuffet, Robert Combas, and Mr Doodle.
Drü Egg particularly enjoys the fact that everyone can interpret his work in their own way, giving free rein to their imagination.
