Koctel

Koctel, real name Fernando Hernández Arboleda, was born in Granada in 1989 and grew up in Seville, whose orange trees became the signature motif of his work. He came up through graffiti, graduated from Madrid's professional drawing school in 2010, and has been painting large-format murals since 2014 in Spain, the UK, Italy, Germany, Austria, Mexico, China and the United States. His walls are populated by fruit-headed characters with citrus-slice eyes, drawn in curved lines and bright flat colour, somewhere between American pop surrealism, Japanese anime and the crowded bestiaries of Bosch and Bruegel. He has shown in galleries since 2019 and on the international fair circuit since 2021, including Art Miami, Art on Paper New York and Art Central Hong Kong. He lives and works in Madrid, splitting his time between canvases, sculptures and walls.
