Biography
Patcharapol Tangruen, born in Bangkok in 1981, graduated from the department of fine and applied arts at King Mongkut's Institute of Technology. His architectural training sent him walking the alleys and abandoned buildings of the capital, which became his first surfaces.
In 2009, after becoming a father, he invented Mardi: a three-eyed child in a rabbit suit, whose third eye looks at what the other two avoid. The character returns on almost every wall he paints and speaks for the ordinary residents of Bangkok and the provinces around it.
His work now moves between the street and the gallery: the Bukruk festival in Bangkok, Peinture Fraîche in Lyon in 2019, shows at Bangkok CityCity Gallery, at Thinkspace in Los Angeles and at Art Porters in Singapore. One of his pieces entered the permanent collection of MOCA Bangkok.
