Abel

Abel, born Yohan (1973-2021), was a graffiti writer from Marseille and one of the pioneers of the city's scene, having lived through the earliest days of the local hip-hop movement. A member of the 313 and TKO crews, he painted alongside Reno, Tower, Came, Shema and Seek, a team known for hitting every kind of surface, trains and metros in particular, and for spreading to other European cities. His pieces are documented from the late 1990s to the early 2010s, mostly in Marseille but also in Toulouse and the Paris area. In 2016 he signed "La Jungle" with the Pièce Makers collective, a large animal-filled facade on rue Vian in the heart of the Cours Julien district. In June 2024, a great many graffiti writers painted a collective tribute to him on the Espace Julien wall on rue Crudère.
