Ben Mathis

Ben Mathis is a Düsseldorf artist who paints on canvas as readily as on large building facades, and who also works in sculpture, installation and print. What runs through everything is a love of detail that turns each project into a one-off piece. He started out in the 1990s and played a central part in the transformation of the Kiefernstraße in 2004, 2007 and 2008. That street holds his "Raster #1" at number 19 (2005), the puzzle house at number 17 (2007, with the MaJo Brothers) and the dragon house at number 7 (2008-2009), a facade of Chinese mythology in sun yellow and bright red. He runs a studio gallery in Düsseldorf, on Ludenberger Straße.
