Biography
Zedz is a Dutch artist from the first generation of Amsterdam graffiti writers. He left classic lettering behind early on for a strictly geometric vocabulary: three-dimensional volumes, flat blocks of saturated colour and orthogonal compositions that owe as much to architecture as to painting. He names Piet Mondrian among his key references. His often monumental interventions appear in public space around the world, from France to Japan by way of Italy, Russia and the Caribbean, and extend into sculpture and installation. The mural he painted in Cologne-Ehrenfeld in 2019, as part of a collaboration between the social housing association GAG and the art association Artrmx, was picked by the agency Street Art Today as one of the year's best murals worldwide.
