Biography
The NEANDERARTgroup is an open artists' group from Erkrath, founded in early 2009 by photographer Guntram Walter and artist Ralf Buchholz. The collective set out to take over the town's neglected spaces artistically, teaming up with professional spray painters such as Düsseldorf's Marco Holzheier. A first Neanderthal figure was sprayed on a car-wash wall in 2012, and in 2020 the group redesigned the approaches to Alt-Erkrath station with motifs specific to the town: local landmarks, flowers and welcome messages in several languages. It also runs exhibitions and events such as "ART im Park" and "QuickArt".
