Bust The Drip

Bust The Drip, whose civil name is Alexis Stephens, is a French-Jamaican artist born in 1983 in Paris. He came to painting from dance, and made that passage the core of his work: he traces the undulations of his own body by hand, a choreographic gesture carried onto the wall. His name blends the phrase "to bust a move", borrowed from dance, with the dripping paint that signs his pieces. Fed by abstract expressionism and graffiti, he sets out to transcribe movement and energy rather than a figure. He is represented among others by the Pretty Portal gallery in Düsseldorf. Not to be confused with the Swiss artist BustArt.
