Biography
Klaus Klinger, born in 1954 in Essen, is a muralist based in Düsseldorf. He studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1973 to 1980, under Gerhard Richter among others, and in 1977 co-founded the Wandmalgruppe Düsseldorf, out of which the non-profit Farbfieber grew in 1987. Since 1978 he has painted more than 150 murals in Germany and abroad, almost always alongside other artists. His walls tackle political and social subjects head on: housing shortage, migration, the financial crisis, ecology. He describes his practice as a democratisation of public space, deliberately kept away from the commercial art market and indoor venues.
