Ralph Lazar

Ralph Lazar is a South African artist, born in Johannesburg in 1967 and based in London. A bestselling illustrator and author (Total Mayhem, Happiness Is), he has shown at Art Miami, the LA Art Show and Art Market San Francisco, and his work ran on 1,700 digital screens across New York City in 2020. Since 1 October 2025 he has painted one ant a day: a black silhouette on a white ground, small format, numbered (ANT 1, ANT 2...) and signed LAZAR. With The Dispersal, part of the colony leaves the studio for the street, as paintings are left around London in a series of drops timed to the city's art calendar and running up to Frieze Week in October, free for whoever finds them.
