Sam3

Sam3 is a Spanish artist born in Elche in 1980, painting in the street since 1993 and now based between Murcia and Madrid. He is best known for his "shadows": vast black silhouettes applied straight onto gable ends and blind walls, stripped back to the essentials so that passers-by supply the meaning themselves. By turns poetic and ironic, his work keeps returning to the bond between people and nature, with trees whose branches are human bodies, or figures carried on someone else's breath. In 2010 he painted the three medianeras on calle Antonio López in Madrid, one of his most visible groups of murals, and he also works in sculpture and stop-motion animation. His walls can now be found across Europe, from Barcelona to Lodz, Grottaglie and Heidelberg.
