Waleska Nomura

Waleska Nomura is a Brazilian artist born in São Paulo and now based in England. Self-taught, she has been painting graffiti since 1997, starting with letters on the streets of São Paulo before moving onto canvas and large walls. She mixes spray paint and heavy acrylic with collage and found objects, and has recently added modelling clay to give her pieces a three-dimensional surface. Since 2004 she has run a project called "Spreading the Love and Positive Energy to the World": her walls packed with small colourful hearts are its signature, in London as much as in Brighton or São Paulo. She also paints for Street Art For Mankind, a charity that puts street art to work against child trafficking.
