I Am Eelco

I Am Eelco, real name Eelco van den Berg, is a Dutch painter, muralist and illustrator born in Uden in 1974. Caught by hip hop and graffiti back in primary school, he trained as an illustrator before turning to walls. He paints quirky animal creatures in psychedelic settings, with thick outlines, heavily saturated flats and decorative motifs, in a surrealist pop register. Ever since a cat he painted in Berlin in 2013, offbeat animals have stayed with him.
