Pitanga

Pitanga, real name Joana Rodrigues, is a Portuguese artist born in 1980 in Almada and based in Lisbon. After several years in design agencies she went independent in 2012, working across mural painting, illustration, design and the customisation of objects, sneakers above all. She describes a bright, colourful and happy imaginary world, built very intuitively, guided by her senses and by a search for the shapes and colours that carry what she feels. She has collaborated with Vans, Adidas and O Boticário, and runs the "Juntos" project in Almada, which turns urban art into a teaching tool in schools, aiming at seventeen murals, one for each Sustainable Development Goal.
