Biography
Jean Van Hamme (Brussels, 1939) is one of the most widely read comics writers in the world. Trained as an economist and a Philips executive before writing full time, he created Thorgal with Grzegorz Rosiński in 1977, XIII with William Vance in 1984, and then Largo Winch with Philippe Francq. His command of cliffhanger storytelling and serial structure made him a master of the comics thriller. The XIII mural on rue Philippe de Champagne in Brussels carries his name alongside the artist's.
