Mitacq

Mitacq, real name Michel Tacq (Brussels, 1927 - Waterloo, 1994), was a Belgian cartoonist trained under Jijé. A former scout, in 1954 he created La Patrouille des Castors for Spirou magazine, a realist adventure series about five scouts, written for twenty years by Jean-Michel Charlier. He also drew Stany Derval and Jacques Le Gall. The Brussels mural honouring him, painted in 2003 in the Marolles district, shows two Beavers on a ladder leaning against a blind gable, playing on the trompe-l'oeil tradition of the Comic Book Route.
