Gleo

Gleo is the artist name of Natalia Gallego Sánchez, born in 1992 in Cali, Colombia. She started painting in the street at seventeen, first with sea creatures, then turning to large mystical beings: figures with glowing yellow eyes, masks, headdresses and animals, fed by Colombian popular legends and ancestral imagery. For the MURO festival in Lisbon in 2017 she painted "Heart of Gold", drawn from the legend of El Dorado and a childhood memory of her cousin Ana, who grew up with her in a poor region of Colombia. Her work has taken her to France, Portugal, Morocco, Brazil, Mexico, the Netherlands, Belgium and the United States, including a 697 square metre mural in The Hague for the Mauritshuis museum.
