LS

LS is the artist name of Luís Santos, born in 1985 and raised in Marvila, the eastern Lisbon neighbourhood where he still lives. Coming out of graffiti writing, he built an immediately recognisable signature: a monumental face broken into flat triangular facets, set against a background that reprises the patterns of traditional Portuguese lace. His themes revolve around multiculturalism, women and nature, and since 2015 he has also worked with materials collected in the street. A member of Marvila's AK Crew, he painted for the MURO festival in 2017 and then for Infinito, Stone Art and Mural18 in 2021, in Lisbon, Alcochete, Leiria, Loures, Cascais and Sesimbra, with clients including Rock in Rio, the Galeria de Arte Urbana and Infraestruturas de Portugal.
