Biography

Kruella d'Enfer is the artist name of Ângela Ferreira, born in Portugal in 1988 and a graduate in environmental design from the school of arts and design of Caldas da Rainha. The alias comes from Cruella de Vil, the villain of "101 Dalmatians", behind whom she hid her shyness, and her imagery comes from the tales passed by word of mouth in Saldonas, near Tondela. She has been exhibiting since 2010 and has painted walls across Europe and Asia. Her contrasting colours and geometric shapes give body to ancient legends and myths peopled with benevolent creatures: mystic wolves, magic foxes, bewitching tigers, shamanic deer. Nature, folklore, travel and spirituality are the material of a body of work that sits on the border between the real and the imagined.
