Tiago Hesp

Tiago Hesp, born in 1981, is a Portuguese artist based in Almada. Trained in scenography at Lisbon's Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema, he has been painting in the street since 1998 while also working as an illustrator, painter and musician. His work always starts from black: fast, aggressive, angular lines that he then balances out with colour, in a search for equilibrium between shadow and light. He shows regularly in solo exhibitions (É Fogo Posto in Porto in 2025, Quase um Quarto in Mafra in 2024) and has taken part in the MURO festival in Lisbon, WOOL in Covilhã and Step in the Arena in Eindhoven. He is represented by the Underdogs gallery in Lisbon.
