Biography

Ergo Bandits is a Portuguese duo formed by João Marquês Pereira and Ramon Freitas, who claim art as a vehicle for ideas rather than mere decoration. The collective is known for message-driven urban interventions, often built around large graphic and geometric motifs: rosettes, patterns and pictograms painted in flat colour. Their notable pieces include "Message in a Plastic Bottle", made at a landfill site in the Viseu region, and a mural in Viseu calling for direct conversation rather than contact behind a screen. In July 2019 they co-signed the mural "Batuko" with Frederico Draw for the Casa da Cultura Cabo-Verdiana in Lisbon.
