Alice Jousset

Alice Jousset is a painter and muralist based in Nantes, France, working out of her studio in Rezé. Trained in applied arts, photography and artistic make-up, she moved to Nantes in 2009 and spent a year in a trompe-l'oeil painting workshop, an apprenticeship that still shows in her attention to detail. Her canvases and murals start from grey to ochre-yellow grounds on which she blends acrylics to mimic the look of oil paint, before adding realistic details; blue runs through almost every piece. Her world sits between abstraction and realism, ornamental and highly colourful, populated by animals and characters from fish to whales, birds to shells. After a first show in Clisson in 2024 she presented her "Ménagerie fantaisiste" in Nantes, and paints commissioned murals for the city and for private clients alongside the workshops she runs.
