Biography

Jone, whose real name is Mikaël Barzic, is a Breton graffiti writer born in Concarneau and now based in Brest. Self-taught, he has been painting since the mid-1990s and belongs to the first generation of graffiti artists in Brittany, working with the C29 crew, which he joined when it was founded in 1999, as well as BAN and Crazy Partners. Lettering and wild style remain his home ground, a craft he has passed on to many writers on the regional scene, alongside large-format wall compositions in spray paint and acrylic. His references run from photography and realism to classical painting, comics, typography and science fiction. He now makes a living from public and private commissions as a graphic designer and decorator, and is behind the maritime mural on rue Dumont-d'Urville in Concarneau, painted during the Filets Bleus festival in 2023.
