Biography
François Kernen, who paints as Ezra, is a Breton graffiti writer. He started in 2002 and turned professional in 2014, after a dozen years of practice. His ground is lettering: wildstyle and three-dimensional volumes, the most technical and codified branch of the discipline, judged on command of the letter before subject matter.
He belongs to several crews, MAD in England, 03S in the United States and RSA in France, a network that explains how his work circulates beyond Brittany. His murals can be seen in Lorient, in the Keroman district beside the harbour, as well as in Rezé and Redon.
He often paints in a team: several Lorient walls are signed collectively with Kaz, Jef, Acer or Ackwa, among them a mural about migrants painted inside a disused building. That way of working, inherited from crew culture, clearly sets this regional scene apart from the practice of isolated artists.
